Gesture Based Interaction Screen
Idea
The idea is to unveil a gesture based interaction screen that can be driven using image processing and simple hardware design. The purpose of the technology is mainly as an advertising opportunity for companies, but selecting your favorite music clips or playing games or interacting with information kiosks has never been so fun.
The futuristic device takes the touch UI revolution one step ahead. The gesture controls work by implementing a large projection screen or a large monitor and an advanced piece of motion capture technology. What exactly is going on behind the scenes is a simple hardware to detect motion along with image processing modules.
Aim
• To build a gesture based interaction screen and to implement it for a sample application scenario (several scenarios).
• The application can vary from advertisement to information access to education to entertainment. The list of application is almost endless.
• To build image processing modules that can scan and understand the gestures performed and then command the overlaying application about the actions to be taken.
• To also build (optional) a hardware device using infra red sensors to assist the software module for more accurate recognition of gestures.
