Image processing is required to eliminate unwanted noise so that the quality of the processed image will not deteriorate. Generally, noise is eliminated using some specified filters. Several methods have been described to eliminate such noises from stationary digital images. The discrete wavelet transform (DWT) is one of the latest wavelet transformations used in image processing. DWT decomposes an image into different subimages. Denoising algorithm using DWT requires the decomposition of the noise images to obtain the wavelet coefficients. These coefficients are then degraded with wavelet threshold. Finally, the inverse transformation is applied to the coefficients and the destroyed image is obtained. This process is called reconstructing an image using decomposition or analysis of the noised applied image. DWT decomposes an image into different subband images, ie, low-low (LL), low-high (LH), high-low (HL), and high-high (HH).
The subband (LL) is the low resolution residue. The ripple threshold noise removal method filters each coefficient of detail subbands with a threshold function to obtain modified coefficients. The estimated noise by inverse wavelet transform of the modified coefficients. Here, the threshold plays an important role in the no-noise process. There are two threshold methods that are used frequently. Softthreshold function and hard thresholding function. The wavelet threshold procedure eliminates noise by limiting only the wavelet coefficients of the detail subbands, keeping the low resolution coefficients unchanged. The hard threshold is a rule of maintaining or killing while the soft threshold reduces the coefficients above the threshold in absolute value. De-noise of natural images corrupted by Gaussian noise using wavelet techniques is very effective because of its ability to capture the energy of a signal in few energy transformation values. Finding an optimal threshold is a tedious process.

As with other wavelet transformations, a key advantage over Fourier transforms is the temporal resolution: it captures both frequency and location information (time location).
