In automobile engineering, Fiat cars are the most popular brand in India because of its very easy start in cold conditions. This easy start is obtained by the Solex carburetor which is a down-down type carburetor and has special provisions to the source, richer mixture at engine start and gradually weakens it until the engine reaches its normal operating speed .
Solex Carburetor Starting Circuit :
The throttle valve remains in the closed position during startup. The gasoline is supplied to the starter gas jet through the first passage from the flotation chamber and the air through the starter air stream for the starting operation. Starting valves that have different hole sizes, is made of flat disc. The multi-hole position can be adjusted in front of the starting gas jet by means of the start lever and then the air from the starting air jet is mixed. This air-fuel mixture passes through other starter valve holes in a carburetor passageway below the throttle valve. The suction stroke of the engine draws this mixture into the cylinder. This mixture is rich enough to start the engine. After the engine starts and the speed increases, a weak mixture is required; Therefore, a small opening of the starter valve is placed in front of the jet of starter gasoline by means of the starter lever, reducing the amount of gasoline, which weakens the air-fuel mixture. Likewise, the next smallest hole in the starter valve is placed in front of the starter gas jet until the engine reaches its normal speed, then the starter valve is closed by placing the starter lever in the off position.
