Fog or mist computing also known as nebulization, is an architecture that uses one or more end-user collaborative clients or peripheral devices close to the user to perform a substantial amount of storage (rather than being stored primarily in data centers in the cloud), communication (rather than routing through the Internet backbone), control, configuration, metering and administration (rather than being controlled primarily by network gateways such as the LTE core network).

Fog computing can be perceived both in large cloud systems and in big data structures, referring to the increasing difficulties in accessing information objectively. This results in a lack of quality of the content obtained. The effects of cloud computing on cloud computing and big data systems may vary; however, a common aspect that can be drawn is a limitation on the precise distribution of content, a problem that has been addressed with the creation of metrics that attempt to improve accuracy.

The mist network consists of a control plane and a data plane. For example, in the data plane, cloud computing allows IT services to reside on the edge of the network rather than servers in a data center. Compared to cloud computing, cloud computing emphasizes proximity to end users and customer targets, dense geographic distribution and pooling of local resources, latency reduction, and bandwidth savings to achieve better quality of service (QoS ) and flow edge / mining analysis. user experience and redundancy in case of failure.

The fog network supports the concept of Internet of Things (IoT), in which most of the devices used by humans will connect daily. Examples include telephones, portable health monitoring devices, connected vehicles, and augmented reality using devices such as Google Glass.

SPAWAR, a division of the US Navy. You are creating prototypes and testing a scalable and secure interrupt-tolerant mesh network to protect strategic military assets, both fixed and mobile. Machine control applications, which run on the mesh nodes, "take control" when Internet connectivity is lost.

ISO / IEC 20248 provides a method by which the data of the objects identified by edge computation using Automated Identification Data Conveyors [AIDC], a bar code and / or RFID tag, can be read, interpreted, verified and placed available in "Fog" and in the "Edge" even when the AIDC tag has been moved.
