Kaimosi Teachers Training College have been crowned as the overall winners in the category of universities at the national drama festivals in Nakuru. It was singing and dancing for the apprentice teachers as they lifted the trophy at Melvin Jones Hall in the city of Nakuru on Sunday night. The actions of the TTC, initially considered poor compared to those of secondary schools and universities, showed a great improvement this year with well written pieces that were entertaining and educational. Most of the exhibited items were contemporary and addressed the concerns of the country, said adjudicators Fredrick Shitubi, Rashid Mohamed and Charles Gatere. But even so a good number of the articles of the TTC lacked originality, since they had simply "copied" previous scripts used by several high schools that did not manage to reach the national ones. An example of this was in the narrative category, where the interpreters evidently adapted "Otonglo Time" a piece by Daniel Owira, the student of the High School of Roads that won the hearts of many, including President Uhuru Kenyatta with his exceptional narrative at festivals last year. The attempt to imitate Owra's captivating accent Luo came out horribly and left a bitter taste in the mouths of many.
