Principles of Management
The principles of management are statements that are based on a fundamental truth. These principles serve as a guide for decision-making and management actions. They are elaborated through observations and analysis of events that managers find in practice. Henri Fayol was able to synthesize 14 management principles after years of study, namely:

1. Division of labor
In practice, employees are specialized in different areas and have different skills. Different levels of experience can be distinguished within the areas of knowledge (from generalist to specialist). Personal and professional developments support this. According to Henri Fayol, specialization promotes the efficiency of the workforce and increases productivity. In addition, the specialization of the workforce increases its accuracy and speed. This principle of management of the 14 management principles applies to both technical and management activities.

2. Authority and responsibility
In order to do things in an organization, the administration has the authority to give orders to employees. Of course, with this authority comes responsibility.
According to Henri Fayol, the power or accompanying authority gives the management the right to give orders to subordinates. Responsibility goes back to performance and, therefore, agreements need to be made about it. In other words, authority and responsibility go together and are two sides of the same coin.

3. Discipline
This third principle of the 14 principles of management is about obedience. It is often part of the core values of a mission and vision in the form of good behavior and respectful interactions. This management principle is essential and is seen as the oil to make an organization's engine run smoothly.

4. Control unit
The management principle "Unit of command" means that an individual employee must receive orders from a manager and that the employee is responsible to that manager. If the tasks and related responsibilities are given to the employee by more than one manager, this can lead to confusion that can lead to possible conflicts for employees. Using this principle, responsibility for mistakes can be more easily established.

5. Management Unit
This management principle of the 14 principles of management is all about approach and unity. All employees perform the same activities that can be linked to the same objectives. All activities must be performed by a group that forms a team. These activities should be described in an action plan. The manager is ultimately responsible for this plan and monitors the progress of defined and planned activities. Areas of focus are employee efforts and coordination.

6. Subordination of individual interest
There are always all sorts of interests in an organization. For an organization to function well, Henri Fayol indicated that personal interests are subordinated to the interests of the organization (ethics). The main focus is on the objectives of the organization and not on those of the person. This applies to all levels of the entire organization, including administrators.

7. Remuneration
Motivation and productivity are close to each other in terms of how well an organization works. This management principle of the 14 management principles argues that remuneration should be sufficient to keep employees motivated and productive. There are two types of non-monetary remuneration (a compliment, more responsibilities, credits) and monetary (compensation, bonus or other financial compensation). Ultimately, it is about rewarding the efforts that have been made.

8. The degree of centralization
The management and authority for the decision-making process must be properly balanced in an organization. This depends on the size and size of an organization, including its hierarchy. Centralization implies the concentration of decision-making authority on top management (executive council). The distribution of the authorities to the decision making process with lower levels (medium and low management), is known as decentralization by Henri Fayol.
Henri Fayol indicated that an organization should strive for a good balance in this.

9. Scalar Chain
Hierarchy occurs in any given organization. This varies from senior management (executive board) to the lowest levels of the organization. Henri Fayol's "hierarchy" principle states that there must be a clear line in the authority area (top to bottom and all managers at all levels). This can be seen as a type of management structure. Each employee can contact a manager or a superior in an emergency situation without challenging the hierarchy. Especially when it comes to disaster reports to immediate managers / superiors.

10. Order
In accordance with this principle of the 14 principles of management, employees of an organization must have adequate resources at their disposal so that they can function properly in an organization. In addition to the social order (managers' responsibility), the work environment must be safe, clean and orderly.

11. Equity
The principle of equity management often occurs in the core values of an organization. According to Henri Fayol, employees should be treated with kindness and fairness. Employees must be in the right place in the organization to get things right. Managers should monitor and monitor this process and should treat employees fairly and impartially.

12. Stability of staff tenure
This management principle of the 14 principles of management represents the deployment and management of staff and this must be in balance with the service provided from the organization.
Management strives to minimize employee turnover and have the right staff in the right place. Areas of focus, such as frequent position change and sufficient development should be handled well.

13. Initiative
Henri Fayol argued that this principle of management should allow employees to express new ideas. This encourages interest and participation and creates added value for the company. The initiatives of the employees are a source of strength for the organization according to Henri Fayol. This encourages employees to be involved and interested.

14. Esprit de Corps
The principle of management "spirit of body" of the 14 principles of management is to strive for the participation and unity of employees.
Managers are responsible for the development of morale in the workplace; Individually and in the field of communication. Esprit de corps contributes to the development of culture and creates an atmosphere of mutual trust and understanding.
