With increasing levels of technology, efforts are being made to produce any kind of work that has been steadily declining. The efforts required to achieve the desired production can be effectively and economically reduced through the implementation of better designs. The power screws are used to convert the rotary motion into reciprocating motion. An object lifting jack is an example of a power screw in which a small force applied in a horizontal plane is used to raise or lower a large load. In this manufactured model, an electric motor will be integrated with the jack of lifting objects and the electricity necessary for the operation will be taken from the battery of d.c and in this way the mechanical advantage will be increased.
Making a motorized screw jack is easy, especially when the parts are available in the market. A screw or a head screw is operated by turning a lead screw. The height of the jack is adjusted by turning the feed screw. This can be done manually or by integrating an electric motor with it.
The tricky part in the project may be finding a low speed engine that is capable of working at 12V. This is because the output of a car battery is 12V, and the electricity needed for the operation of the screw jack is taken from this battery. Another problem will be speed reduction. 12V motors usually operate at high speeds, probably at 4000 or 5300 rpm. Therefore, reducing this high rpm to the required lower rpm for operation of the screw jack without bulky attachments or power loss can be challenging. But still this is one of the easiest projects in mechanics.
