Event management is the application of project management for the creation and development of large-scale events, such as festivals, conferences, ceremonies, weddings, formal parties, concerts or conventions. It involves studying the brand, identifying its target audience, devising the concept of the event and coordinating the technical aspects before launching the event.

The process of planning and coordinating the event is generally known as event planning and may include budget, programming, site selection, acquisition of necessary permits, transportation and parking coordination, organization of speakers or animators, decoration organization, event security , catering, coordination with external suppliers and emergency plans. Each event is different in nature, so the planning and execution process of each event varies according to the type of event.

The events industry now includes events of all sizes from the Olympic Games to business breakfast meetings. Many industries, charities and interest groups organize events to promote themselves, establish business relationships, raise money or celebrate achievements.

Event management can be a tool for strategic marketing and communication, used by companies of all sizes. Companies can benefit from promotional events as a way to communicate with current and potential customers. For example, these events focused on advertising can occur as press conferences, promotional events or product launches.

Event managers can also use traditional news media to target their audience, hoping to generate media coverage that reaches thousands or millions of people. They can also invite their audience to their events and contact them in the real event.
