Pollution is when something is added to the environment that is harmful or poisonous to living things. Smoke or dust in the air is a type of contamination because it is bad for the lungs when we breathe in. Wastewater in drinking water is another type of pollution because it can make people sick because it contains germs and virus. People living next to a construction site where there is too much noise can get sick as they can not sleep. As pollution increases, ways to combat it have also grown. Solar energy and wind energy give people other ways to fuel their homes. When people use these alternative forms of energy, they put less carbon dioxide into the environment.
The air pollution
Here are some ways that air pollution occurs. Air pollution is caused by poisonous gases, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, and very small particles. It is also caused by the smoke and harmful gases released by the fires that cause vehicles and factories to go. The use of charcoal, wood and kerosene as fuel for fire also causes air pollution. Air pollution can cause respiratory problems such as asthma or other health problems. It also causes diseases like cancer. Air pollution causes global warming and acid rain. This results in an unpredictable rise in temperatures. Rain and drought all over the world. This hinders the survival of living organisms.
Water Pollution
Water pollution is the presence of harmful materials in the water, such as sewage, dissolved metals, farm residues, factories and crude oil spilled from oil tankers. The three main substances that pollute water are nitrates from fertilizers, waste water and detergents. Activities such as bathing and washing clothes near lakes, ponds or rivers add nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus to bodies of water. This leads to excessive growth of algae on the surface of the water. It blocks the penetration of sunlight and air, thus reducing oxygen. Pollution causes damage to organisms living in the water and can also damage the health of people. In extreme cases, it can cause problems like cancer.
Noise pollution
Acoustic pollution is also known as noise pollution that is harmful to both humans and animals. This includes the sound of vehicles, loudspeakers, etc. Acoustic pollution can cause hearing problems or even permanent deafness, especially for the elderly. It also causes problems related to the brain.
Soil contamination
Soil pollution (also known as soil pollution) is when artificial chemicals, such as hydrocarbons, heavy metals, solvents, enter the soil. These chemicals come from industrial activities and from waste disposal. Contamination of the soil can cause health risks. Chemicals may produce harmful vapors, or may contaminate the water supply below contaminated soil.
Plastic Pollution
Plastic pollution is the accumulation of plastic products in the environment that adversely affects wildlife, wildlife habitat or humans.
Thermal pollution
A common cause of thermal pollution is the use of water as a refrigerant by power plants and industrial manufacturers. This returns the hot water, so it increases the temperature and decreases the oxygen content of the water.
