Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) also referred to as mesh networks are self-configured networks of wireless devices connected by wireless links. The objective of this work is to evaluate the performance of an energy routing protocol called AODV based on the AODV protocol and based on the local decisions of intermediate stations to maintain the network connectivity For as long as possible. The results obtained by the Network Simulator NS-2 demonstrate how small changes in the AODV principle can efficiently balance the energy consumption between nodes, increasing network life and increasing performance.


Numerous mobile ad hoc power network (MANET) routing protocols have been developed to address the problem of energy preservation in various MANET environments. Most of them do not have special assumptions regarding the energy consumption (or energy consumed per unit of datagram) or the power capacity of the node, some of them assume that the nodes can adjust their transmission power, some assume the knowledge of location of the nodes using GPS and also the energy replenishment capacity has been considered.

As generalized, there are generally two categories of power routing: Minimum Energy Routing (ME) which selects the route with the least total power consumption for packet transmission and the Max-Routing routing that selects the route which is the maximum Residual node energy. Attempts have also been made to combine both concepts. ME routing saves energy per packet and restricts your locally interested area to a single route. As a result, the network can suffer a serious depletion of regional energy, which endangers the useful life of the network. For this reason, the ME routing is considered to be less advanced than the Max-Min routing, which strives to alleviate the power consumption load of the nodes with lower energy levels and, consequently, to prolong the useful life of the network. But even Max-min routing can pay the price of depleting multiple low-power nodes quickly to avoid using the lower-power node and there could be a greater probability of network partitioning due to multiple-node power depletion.

Most of the existing research on MANET routing with knowledge of energy is in the territory of reactive routing. In contrast, we focus on proactive routing schemes. Although it is known that proactive routing is inefficient for scaling to a large mobile network, it has the advantage of handling heavier traffic without additional overhead of routing control, which could be significant in reactive routing and scalability problem can be solved by hierarchical approaches. Because of this, it is still very valuable to investigate MANET's proactive routing enhancements, including proactive approaches to energy-oriented routing.

Our energy routing system is another combination of the concepts of both ME routing and Max-min routing. Our system has two unique key features: predict energy consumption using the ARRAM (Auto Regressive Integrated Moving Average) model and calculate the cost of energy with an emphasis on the energy depletion ratio. Our work was partly motivated by a research initiative aimed at developing an intelligent reconfigurable routing and space network management system.
