For the insulation design of high-voltage devices (such as switchgear and gas insulated transformers), the electric field optimization technique becomes an indispensable tool. We developed a highly efficient electric field optimization technique based on a neural network under the personal computer. Once the neural network learns the relationship between inputs and outputs, the system easily allows obtaining a target solution. The principle of the optimization technique developed is described with the calculation example. In addition, standardization of learning data is introduced and applicability is extended.
In order to perform computation of highly efficient electric field optimization under PC, neural network is introduced and is available for the optimization problem, with electric field analysis technique. We describe an algorithm of electric field optimization method using two types of neural networks. Then, to evaluate the availability of the method, an optimum contour was calculated by means of an electric field optimization method based on the neural network. As a result, an optimized electrode contour with a highly uniform electric field distribution could be obtained. Consequently, the availability of the method is demonstrated. In addition, it is satisfied that once the neural network has learned, the optimized contour can be found with high speed on the personal computer. Therefore the method of optimization of electric field based on the neural network has advantage in the calculation of the efficiency.
