A speed estimation method for single phase induction motors
is described here. A stationary reference frame is assumed.
For doing this, the machine model is investigated in stationary
reference frame first and then, two equations are obtained to
estimate the motor speed. Finally, the results of simulation
and the DSP implementation of the method are put forward.
The experimental results are in agreement with the simulation
results which validates the proposed estimation method. The
estimated speed signal can be used in sensorless motor performance
optimization and variable speed drives.
