ABSTRACT


The Draganflyer X6 is a remotely operated, unmanned, miniature helicopter designed to carry wireless video cameras and still cameras. Operate the Draganflyer X6 helicopter with the easy to use handheld controller while viewing what the helicopter sees through video glasses. The Draganflyer X6 helicopter uses a unique 6-rotor design refined from an original concept that has been under development. The Draganflyer X6 helicopter uses 11 sensors and thousands of lines of code to self-stabilize during flight. This means the Draganflyer X6 is easier to fly than any other helicopter in its class. The Draganflyer X6 on-board software is the result of extensive testing and development since early 2006. The power system is the core of the Draganflyer X6 helicopter, and is what provides thrust for flight and maneuvering. Power is stored in the battery, passed to the motors, converted to mechanical energy, and then turned into thrust. There is enough thrust for the Draganflyer X6 and a 500 gram payload, which can be any of the specialized cameras systems. The Draganflyer X6 helicopter battery stores enough power for flights approximately 20 minutes long with out payload in optimum conditions. Using lithium polymer cell technology, the Draganflyer X6 battery is significantly lighter and higher capacity than an equivalently shaped conventional rechargeable battery. With its integrated power and balancer connectors, recharging is simple and takes only 30 minutes. A spare battery installs easily so you can continue flying while the used one charges. Six custom brushless motors convert the electric power from the battery into rotational mechanical energy. These electric brushless motors generate twice the power of conventional brushed motors, without any brushes to ever wear out. They are also more efficient for longer flight times, maintenance free, and extremely quiet. Their speed and torque has been custom designed for directly driving the rotor blades - no gears required! The rotors use mechanical energy from the motors to generate thrust. These rotors are molded from carbon fiber into a shape specifically designed for optimal thrust at maximum efficiency. High efficiency also results in low noise (less than 65dB at one meter) and longer flight times. Carbon fiber makes the rotors ultra light and ultra strong. The Draganflyer X6 helicopter is a revolutionary reconnaissance Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV); it can be transported in a lightweight softshell pack with a military grade backpack while always being ready for flight in minutes. With the Draganfly X6 helicopter you can accomplish all of this and in a quiet manner.Weighing only 1 kg and able to be collapsed and transported in a soft shell pack with a military grade backpack, the Draganfly X6 is highly portable, and able to provide you with the aerial platform you need to get pictures or video of an area in its current state. An operating noise level of only 60 decibels means that if there is any ambient noise the Draganflyer X6 is unlikely to be heard. Pick from a choice of cameras with live video feed; high resolution still photo, high definition video, high resolution low light or infra red cameras to obtain the pictures or video you need. With a second receiver and display system, simultaneously have the pilot and commander observe what the camera is seeing.
