The Tanzanian unit of UK-backed Vodafone has launched Electronic Subscriber Registration (ESR), allowing customers to register their SIM cards upon purchase and immediately begin accessing services, according to All Africa. ESR replaces manual registration and is available for new and existing subscribers, making SIM registration a more efficient process. Managing director of Vodacom Tanzania, Rene Meza, commented: ‘All a subscriber needs to do is visit any Vodacom agent with their original, valid ID with their current photograph for the registration to be completed.’
