Mahendra Singh Dhoni (known as MS Dhoni, born July 7, 1981) is an Indian cricket player who captained the Indian team in limited formats from September 11, 2007 to January 4, 2017 and in the test cricket from 2008 to December 28, 2014. A left-handed hitter and right-back Ranger attacking midfielder, he is widely regarded as one of the best finalists in limited cricket. He is also considered one of the best rangers in the world of cricket and is known to have very fast hands. He made his debut at One Day International (ODI) in December 2004 against Bangladesh, and played his first test one year later against Sri Lanka.
Dhoni possesses numerous captaincy records, such as most of the victories of an Indian captain on Trials and ODI, and most of the consecutive victories of an Indian captain at ODI. He took over the ODI captaincy of Rahul Dravid in 2007 and led the team to his first ODI series bilateral triumph in Sri Lanka and New Zealand. Under his captaincy, India won the ICC World Twenty20 2007, the CB Series of 2007-08, the Asian Cup 2010, the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 and the ICC Champions Trophy 2013. In the final of the 2011 World Cup, Dhoni scored 91 not in 79 balls that gave India the victory for which he was awarded the Man of the Match. In June 2013, when India defeated England in the Trophy of Champions final in England, Dhoni became the first captain to win the three limited ICC trophies (World Cup, Trophy of Champions and World Twenty20). After taking the test captaincy in 2008, he led the team to series victories in New Zealand and the West Indies, and the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2008, 2010 and 2013. In 2009, Dhoni also led the Indian team to position number one for the first time in the ICC Trial classification. In 2013, under his captaincy, India became the first team in more than 40 years to whiten Australia in a series of tests. In the Indian Premier League, he was the captain of the Chennai Super Kings in the win in the 2010 and 2011 seasons, along with wins in the 2010 and 2014 editions of the Twenty20 Champions League. Dhoni holds the position of Vice President of India Cements Ltd., after resigning from Air India. India Cements is the owner of the IPL Chennai Super Kings team, and Dhoni has been their captain since the first season of IPL. Dhoni is co-owner of the Indian Super League team Chennaiyin FC.
Dhoni has been awarded numerous prizes, including the ICC ODI Player of the Year award in 2008 and 2009 (the first player to win the award twice), the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in 2007 and Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian of honor India in 2009. He was named captain of the ICC World Test XI and ICC World ODI XI teams for 2009. The Indian Territorial Army conferred the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel to Dhoni on November 1, 2011. He is the second Indian cricket after Kapil Dev has received this honor. In 2011, Time magazine included Dhoni on its annual Time 100 as one of the "most influential people in the world". In 2012, SportsPro qualified Dhoni as the 16th most marketable athlete in the world. In June 2015, Forbes ranked Dhoni in 23rd place in the list of highest paid athletes in the world, estimating his earnings at US $ 31 million. In 2016, a biopic M.S.
