Morgan Zintec Teachers College is one of the first teacher training institutions in Zimbabwe that produces primary level teachers in the form of a diploma issued by the University of Zimbabwe. After the independence of Zimbabwe in 1980 the government realized that there would be a great demand for teachers, since people would not leave the "mountain" due to the end of the war so they created a direct impulse to establish centers of teacher training.
In Arcadia, it was where a former predominantly Colorado neighbourhood housed Morgan High School. Then, the government decided to convert the high school boarding facility along with its dining hall at Morgan Zintec Teachers College. Its doors would open in 1981 after converting 3 shelters, 3 houses for staff and the cafeteria into the National Integrated Teacher Education Course of Zimbabwe (ZINTEC) which to this day still collaborates closely with Morgan High School. The impulse and drive was to develop cadres who would be prepared to work in rural areas since the need for learning institutions in such areas was (and still is) high.
