The main disadvantage of the interconnected power supply system is that the level of system failure increases as more and more power supplies are connected. In case of any fault at any point, heavy fault current flow that are fed from the sources, causing a strong voltage drop in the system. Therefore, the ratings of electrical equipment, cables, etc. have to be updated as per the higher fault level, which is a huge cost.
