Knuckle joint
A knuckle joint is used to connect the two rods under the tensile load when a small amount of flexibility or angular momentum is required. There is always an axial or linear line of action for the load.
The assembly of the knuckle joint consists of the following main components:
1. One eye.
2. Double eye or fork.
3. Knuckle clamp.
At one end of the bar the single eye is formed and a double eye is formed at the other end of the bar. Both the single and double eyes are connected by a pin inserted through the eye. The pin has a head at one end and at the other end there is a tapered pin or a split pin. For gripping purposes, the ends of the rod are octagonal in shape. Now, when the two eyes separate, the pin holds them together. The solid rod portion of the gasket in this case is much stronger than the portion through which the pin passes.
Cotter joint
A key joint is used in which there is no angular displacement between two rods; on the other hand, the articulation of articulation in which there is a need for angular displacement for eG "in freight is used.There is need for some angular displacement during chanhe a railway (Indian railway)."
