An automatic drip irrigation system of a dwarf cherry system with DC-powered brushless DC motors (BLDC) has been designed and implemented in the Zile district of Tokat province, Turkey. One motor was used to power the deep well pump that has been used for the purpose of storing water in a pool. The other was used for the conduction of the centrifugal pump that has been used in order to transfer expected water into the drip irrigation pool. Optimal solar panels were selected according to the calculated maximum power consumption of the motors. The power requirement of BLDC motors has been provided by solar panels and batteries. Sun tracking system was used to increase system efficiency. A DC-DC buck converter has been developed to power the motor and charge the batteries safely. System automation was provided with RF modules, soil moisture sensors and solenoid valves.
The main advantage is that sunlight is intense, when the demand for irrigation is high. In addition to the solar energy available at the time of its use for independent farmers or fuel supply of electric cables. Solar pumps have the potential to revolutionize small-scale irrigation in developing countries in the near future. It establishes the technical viability of solar energy (photovoltaic). The pumps are a major limiting factor is the high cost and lack of familiarity with the technology that require a concerted effort in the training of technicians and large-scale introduction in a region with the right technical assistance. However, the incentives and initiatives, the payments to be made by multinational enterprises / authorities of the regime in rural areas for small-scale irrigation systems in remote rural areas, where electrification is an expensive affair, are propagated. The model of the system is the introduction of solar water pumps and irrigation systems to help provide sustainable development for farmers in the United Nations or in electrified rural areas. Several agencies and financial institutions should assist in the development of credit control to direct the rural area without electricity.
