It is designed to provide a communication channel inside an organization between different clients on the network.
It accept the mails from authorized users providing security.
This enhances communications among the members of the organization in a reliable, cost-effective and secure way.

INTRANET
A technical definition
¢ An intranet is a network based on the internet TCP/IP open standard. An Intranet belongs to an organization, and is designed to accessible only by organization's members, employees, or others with authorization. An intranet™s Email looks and acts like other Email but has a firewall surrounding it to fend off unauthorized.
