National Fertilizers Limited (NFL) - Miniratna (Cat-1) is a major Indian producer of chemical fertilizers, organic fertilizers and industrial chemicals. The NFL, established in 1974, is the largest public sector company in India (Government of India Undertaking) in the fertilizer sector, with a turnover of more than Rs. 75 billion. With administrative control of the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, it is the second largest producer of key Urea fertilizers in India. NFL has five gas-based ammonia-urea plants, such as Nangal & Bathinda in Punjab, Panipat in Haryana and two in Vijaipur Madhya Pradesh).
NFL was established in 1974, as a public sector company of the Government of India.
NFL initially operated two plants in Bathinda and Panipat. In 1978, the ownership and operations of the FCI Nangal plant were transferred to the NFL.
Government. In India, in 1984, it entrusted the Company with the execution of the first gas-based fertilizer project of 726,000 tons of uranium in the Guna District of Madhya Pradesh and commercial production began on July 1, 1988. The company Built and launched its Vijaipur plant in the Guna district of Madhya Pradesh. The plant's capacity doubled to 1.45 million tonnes in 1997.
The NFL was granted the status of Mini-Navratna with additional autonomy due to its profitable operations.
In 2001, the company became a public company, with listings on the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange.
NFL has five gas-based Urea plants, such as Nangal and Bathinda in Punjab, Panipat in Haryana and two in Vijaipur (Madhya Pradesh). The Panipat, Bathinda and Nangal plants have recently been converted from fuel oil raw materials to natural gas. The Vijaipur plants have also been renovated to save energy and improve capacity.
