Project title: Data Scrambling tool
Abstract
Banks need to protect the identity of its customers. Therefore there is a need to mask all the confidential data, such as, customer name and address, required for its testing. Further masking has to be done in a way such that the integrity of the data in terms of check digits, range checks based on branch code / product types etc. is not lost.
The Data scrambling tool will mask the Production Data. The masked data will reside in a normalized database, which will contain both the masked and original data with relevant links. The masked database will be used for testing.
The tool will use four Data scrambling methods: Replaced, Exchanged, Fixed, Cardinal and Scrambled. The scrambling logic will yield the same value across all the systems for a given field/value.
The tool will have the facility to configure/maintain the fields that need to be masked acros all the systems. In addition, the tool will be flexible to take care of Non standard field names to store customer sensitive data
