New Delhi: close on the heels of Bharti Airtel Chief Sunil Mittal earlier any pay hike in the current fiscal year, the company on Wednesday said that all of its corporate directors and executives voluntarily nor wage hike in 2011-12.

"This is in line with the company's efforts to drive cost efficiency", said the Telecommunications giant said in a statement.

"... All corporate directors and Chief Executive Officers (Asia and Africa) the company voluntarily, without increasing their pay for a specified period (fiscal year ending March 31, 2012 year), "he said.


The company, however, did not name the officials above their pay hikes this year.

Total fees for all directors of Bharti Airtel rose from RS krorov 29.89 in 2009-10 to RS krorov in 35.98 2010-11 respectively. Pay Mr Mittal was about three-fourths of the General Director of the company's remuneration in the 2010-11 biennium.

In its notice, published on the same day, in the course of the forthcoming annual general meeting of shareholders 1 September, Bharti Airtel, also searched for the approval of the shareholders of Mittal for reappointment as MD for the next five years at an annual pay package of up to Rs 70 lakh plus other benefits.

However, the company later said that the proposal was allowing the situation over the next five years and Mittal will get no pay Hike this fiscal.

Back in October 2009, when it was a raging debate on the optimal selection of the Director-General's salary, another corporate giant Reliance Industries has announced that its Chairman and MD, Mukesh Ambani was capping his annual salary at Rs 15 lakh.

In line with this, the Ambani remained unchanged at Rs 15 lakh for three years in a row, including in the current fiscal year. Prior to that, he was Chief Executive of India with the remuneration paid to the 44 rupees in 2007-08.

In May this year, the annual report of the RIL has shown that Ambani was entitled to 38.75 rupees at Rs Pack 2010-11 years, but his salary was capped at Rs 15 lakh.

RIL said it was decided to reflect his desire to set a personal example of moderation in the managerial levels of compensation. "
