i have an idea to work on the approach proposed in this paper but i am new to ns2 and dont know how to begin with

Wireless networks of reasonable density have a high degree of redundancy since if a message is transmitted to the entire network using a naive flood, the message is received several times by most nodes (from different neighbors). This may be ineffective from the point of view of energy consumption, and may also lead to phases of severe congestion when such emissions are in progress. Several techniques have been proposed and studied to alleviate this problem. The simplest of these is the notion of "probabilistic flood". This implies that when a node receives a broadcast message, it retransmits it with a probability "p". If the "p" value is carefully chosen, the message overhead can be substantially reduced, while ensuring that most nodes receive the message. Below this are certain "phase transition" phenomena, which we will explore briefly in this exercise.
