Introduction
Context and preliminary investigation

Topic background
Since 100 years there has been massive change in the means of communication, gone are the days when people used to travel by horse cart or by foot. In this era of new technologies everything is getting automated including our daily lives. The basic thing which is a prime concern for every individual is good health, time management and proper utilization/investment of money. But Because of increasing population and needs of people all over the world things are getting worst when we think of our environmental pollution, road traffic, and continuous depletion of natural resources, limited parking space and heavy maintenance charges of vehicles.
Today, as we all can see that roads are occupied by four-wheelers. In every house there are 2-3 cars, and we are in congestion of space. And during peak hours there is huge traffic on the roads, and since the public transport in these cities are not very efficient, people prefer to have their own vehicles. And people need communication media via which they can communicate, collaborate and could share their ride. . CARTEL car pooling system will solve all the above problems that we are facing these days. CARTEL car pooling system will providing the way to the people to communicate, collaborate so that they can share their ride. Carpooling offers a change to create sustainable environment awareness and reduce car traffic thereby easing congestion, car parking and reducing green house emissions.
topic of the system
CARTEL CAR POOLING SYSTEM- way to collaborate people under a platform in order to have communication between them so that they could share their ride
Purpose of the implementation
 Increasing global warming
 Population
 Depletion of natural resources
 Pollution
 Lack of space for people to live
 Limited parking space
 Heavy maintenance charges on vehicles
Target audience
According to the our daily needs, an office goers spends approx. Rs. 300/- per day while commuting to office on a daily basis covering approximately 60 km. Annually he spends approx Rs. 90,000/- covering 18000km. The total cost includes fuel, parking and maintenance of the vehicle. Carpooling can drastically reduce the cost incurred on these basic necessities and save a large amount. Thus, office goers can use this system efficiently. Prospective audience of the system will be those who use their own convince (car, scooter etc.) For going to different parts of city, the system can be used by all the citizens who have their workplaces at distance and use their own convince for the same purpose. It can be used by the students who regularly go their institution and have fix time. It will be beneficial for the tourist for finding road routes according to their source and destination and almost every citizens who can have fixed time slot for visiting a particular place. It can be used by the government parking authorizes in order to manage the parking space around the city with the information of all the permanent cars using the same space.
Problem context
 Increasing air pollution
 Lack of parking space
 Depletion of natural resources
 Traffic congestion
Rationale of the system
Tangible Benefits

 Capacity utilization of cars would be done by the system more prefects ably. For Example: Before existence of the system in a single car, only one person was there to travel in that but after now 4-5 people can use the same car.
 Saving in fuel would save natural resources and petrochemicals. Now five people are consuming the same quantity of fuel as much one was consuming in this fuel will be saved 4 times.
 Reduced vehicular pollution (benefits local citizens) which will prevent people from several diseases.
 All the disease which is spreading across the city because of vehicular pollution will be reduced.
 Reduce traffic congestion on the road.
 Reduced driving stress/road rage and their ride would be safer.
 Reduce environmental pollution
 Reduced investment requirements in transport infrastructure
 Higher traffic speed (benefits all road users, not just cars). When number of traffic on the road will be reduced then speed will be more automatically.
 Reduce travel cost which saves money and economy would be strong.
 Reduce travel time
 When it's not your turn to drive, you can relax and enjoy not having to deal with the stress of driving. You can also utilize this time to prepare more for your big meeting that day, squeeze in some extra work or even take a nap
 Reduced parking space demand (benefits all businesses).
Intangible Benefits
 Reduced Green House Gas emissions (8 lakh tons) (benefits globally) which is a great cause to make our environment more green.
 Increase your social networking
 Some cities are converting HOV lanes into HOT lanes, and then charging tolls to use these lanes, thus you can save your toll charge
 Business networking opportunity for spreading up the business and which can be utilized in many other way too.
 Reduce driving stress and fatigue
Goal of the System Development
Project Goal

Basically, the main objective of this project is to develop a system that could bring the people at one common platform in order to share their ride. People belonging to same origin and destination and having same timing will be categorizes and so that they would be able to commutate together.
Academic Goal
In order to make a perfect car pool system, developer has to learn and implement many new things. Making the whole system and integrating it and making the mobile version will teach the developer many new things. Developer has to follow the systematic approach to fulfill all the requirements of the projects. Developer will be learning asp.net using C#, ajax.net, mobile application in .net framework, implementing the HCIU principles, SQL queries advanced UI design techniques, low-level Programming, Project management Skills, Software engineering tools and techniques, enterprise level.
Objectives of the system Development
Successful criteria
Success criteria of the project will be the following. If project is able to show all these successfully then it will be successful project and can be implemented in the real world.
 Login: - if login will be done by the administrator of the site and by the each and every registered member of the site. If entered username and password redirect the user on their page.
 Implementation of the Dijkstra’s Algorithm - if implementation of Dijkstra’s algorithm is done successfully and it is able to show the exact and shortest path.
 Mobile browser: - if the system is working properly on the mobile browser from emulator.
 Functionality: - if all the functionality of the system is working properly and giving the proper output.
 Categorization: - if the system is able to sort out the people according to the timings and source – destination they entered.
SCOPE/LIMITATION OF CARTEL CAR POOLING SYSTEM
CARTEL car pooling system will be only for Haryana. It includes all the districts/cities of Haryana. People who used to go from one city to other will be most beneficial for them. And who doesn’t want to travel by the public transport. It will be completely a privately network.
