i would like to get details on campus area network advantages and disadvantages ppt ..My friend Justin said campus area network advantages and disadvantages ppt will be available here and now i am living at ......... and i last studied in the college/school ......... and now am doing ....i need help on ......etc

A campus area network (CAN) is a network of multiple local area networks (LANs) interconnected within a limited geographical area. A CAN is smaller than a wide area network (WAN) or a metropolitan area network (MAN).


CAN is also known as a corporate area network (CAN).

In most cases, the CANs have shared network devices and data exchange media.

The benefits of the CAN are as follows:

• Economic
• Wireless, compared to cable
• Multi-department access to the network
• Single Shared Data Transfer Rate (DTR)

The following are examples of CAN implementations:

• The SUNet network at Stanford University
• Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Athena Project
