A solar tracker is a device for orienting a daylight reflector, a photovoltaic solar panel or a concentrating solar reflector or a lens towards the sun. The position of the sun in the sky varies as much with the seasons and the time of day as the sun moves through the sky. Solar-powered equipment works best when drawn in or near the sun, so a solar tracker can increase the effectiveness of this type of equipment in any fixed position, at the expense of additional system complexity.
The hardware design is full of things that are available in any junkyard. The servomotor is taken from the car door mirror system (also called power windows system) and the gear system is made of motorcycle chain small cogwheel to rotate the panel and a small wood of the Cam on the servo side.
This solar tracker is based on simple logic ICs, servo controller, pulse width modulator and LDRs. The circuit is powered by a 12V battery. The two solar panels of 15VAH each are connected to turn on three 3W LEDs (controlled by switch) and also charge a 12V 7AH battery. L298 and SG3525 are used to control servomotors and LDRs are used to detect the position of the light source (sun).
