BLING: A New Sketch Based 3D Model Search Engine.
ABSTRACT
Number of 3d models increasing rapidly.
Searching the models from the database has become an increasing demand.
A new 3d model search engine called as BLING is proposed.
It retrieves 3d model by sketch.
INTRODUCTION
3D models are used in the wide range of fields such as virtual reality , mechanical engineering ,film entertainment etc.

To reuse the resources from 3D model databases ,
methods to search out the models are needed.

Content based searching:
2 types of interfaces
Query By Example: It takes the detailed 3D model as input.
Query By Sketch:
Its takes a sketch as an input.
BLING is an example .
Voxel model is generated interactively from sketch and compared with the models from the database .
REVIEW
Query By Sketch search engine adopted 2D and 3D sketches as input.
In 2D sketch based search engine , users are often required to draw sketched of an object from top ,side and front view.
Tedious job to accomplish.
3D sketch based modeling is introduced to retrieval interface.
3D model searching can be processed using 2 ways
Mesh Model: An unstructured grid which is a collection of vertices , edges and faces that defines the shape of an object in 3D computer graphics.
Voxel Model: volume elements(voxels) in a discrete 3D space.

Open curve modifying: It allows the users to draw sketch across the object.
Closed curve modifying: It allows the user to draw the sketch through the interior.
RETRIEVAL
Key point-extracting shape feature .
VD2 is generated by taking the euclidean distance between randomly selected voxels.
Surface voxels and internal ones are taken into consideration.
This is compared with the models in the database.
