Dengue fever
Dengue fever is transmitted by mosquitos who carry a dengue virus and which has four varied serotypes thought of to infect human beings. The serotypes mentioned above denotes a set of microorganisms that are exceptionally closely associated. These microorganisms can only be distinguished due to them having somewhat dissimilar antigens (the alien unit that affects the body and making us produce antibodies) which prompt the body to create some dissimilar antibodies. Dengue cases are more common in subtropical and the tropical regions of our planet, including our country.

The dengue virus is transmitted by female mosquito only. Dengue mosquitos bite mostly in the day and could be found anywhere and everywhere (Inside and outside the house). These mosquitos are found to be at the peak of their activeness at dawn and dusk.

Dengue symptoms
Dengue has an abrupt onset, viz. a sudden start and these symptoms could be an indicator of its onset.

The patient might be down with fever for 3-7 days
The sufferers feel pain behind their eyes coupled with extreme headaches
Joint pain, Muscle Pain
Anorexia (i.e. Loss of appetite)
Diarrhea and vomiting
Multiple skin lesions
Gum and Nose Bleedings
Recovery on occasions is accompanied with extended exhaustion and melancholy.

Recurrent occurrences of dengue fever might result in shock and too much bleeding but, with proper treatment, turn lethal seldom.

Taking a blood test and visiting a proper clinic could get one diagnosed with Dengue.

The incubation period i.e. the time it takes for the virus to manifest into perceivable symptoms is about 3-14 days ordinarily 4-7 days.

The infectious period for a disease is the time throughout which an infected individual could pass on the disease to others. If a mosquito bites a sick person when he/she is down with a fever the insect itself gets infected. The mentioned sort of mosquitoes would then remain infected throughout their life span. Dengue is not a communicable disease which means that it could not be transmitted to one human from the other.

Treatment of Dengue
In this time and age, there are no definite treatments existing for Dengue. The physicians generally recommend regulating the pain and fever by using paracetamol instead of aspirin(as it might stimulate bleeding) and increasing fluid ingestion. Children below the age of 12 should not be given aspirin until and unless specially prescribed by the doctor.

Prevention of Dengue
The patient should take proper bed rest for those days when the fever is at its peak and take exclusion from work, school preschool or childcare. People suffering from dengue must stay away from places where they could get bitten by mosquitoes. If not, they should stay at home till they are no longer infectious (around 3-5 days).

Until now, no vaccine has been developed to avert humans getting infected by the virus.

For avoiding this illness, make sure your surroundings are free of any water logging issues as the Aedes mosquito prefers to breed in stagnant clean water that could be found easily nearby our habitats. Avert the establishment of a contact between mosquitoes and the infected individual. Always have some protective layer of either clothing or a mosquito repellent on you when visiting areas with high chances of the mosquito bite.
