Hardenable concrete also known as Cement Compounds Engineering Abbreviated as ECC is a class of cementitious compounds reinforced with ultra-ductile fiber, characterized by its high ductility and control of tight fissure width. This material is capable of showing considerably improved flexibility. An ECC has a deformation capacity of more than 3% and therefore acts more like a ductile metal rather than as a brittle glass. Flexible concrete is reinforced with micromechanically designed polymer fibers. This paper evaluates the literature on the fresh and mechanical properties of different ECC mixtures by incorporating supplementary cementitious material, ie fly ash and different types of aggregates considering various parameters, ie types of fibers, compressive strength, resistance to The flexion and deflection.
Conventional concretes are almost unbendable and have a deformation capacity of only 0.1% which makes them highly brittle and rigid. This lack of flexibility is a major cause of failure under stress and has been a push factor in the development of an elegant material, namely bendable concrete also known as Engineered Cementitious Composites abbreviated as ECC. This material is capable of showing considerably improved flexibility. Flexible concrete is reinforced with micromechanically designed polymer fibers.
