Star or Delta starters are probably the most common low voltage starters in the world of the 50 Hz industrial motor (known as Wye / Delta starters) at 60 Hz in the United States. They are used to attempt to reduce the starting current applied to the motor during startup as a means to reduce disturbances and interference in the electric supply in addition to limiting the starting current.

The Star / Delta starter is generally manufactured with three contactors, an electromechanical timer and a thermal overload for the operation of a three-phase motor at 440 volts at 50 Hz AC power. The interlocking arrangement of all the contactor coils is wired Traditionally at 440 volts AC. However, in our project we have assumed the same thing to operate a three-phase motor at 440 volts AC 50 Hz power supply with a set of 12 volt DC relays, an electronically adjustable timer and a set of miniature circuit breakers. The interlocking arrangement of the relay coils and the electronic timer are connected in low-voltage 12-volt DC powered from a built-in DC power source for safe operation of the starter during the study, retaining its application for a three-phase phase Motor that Begins with a single phase prevention.

The project would be expensive if you use a three-phase induction motor. Therefore, the project will be tested with a set of lamps in each phase. During star operation, the lamps will light up dark indicating that the supply voltage through the coils will be around 440 / sqrt (3), and while in the delta state after the timer runs, the lamps will glow brightly Total indicating total supply voltage of approximately 440 volts Through the coils. The timer comprises a 555 in monostable mode - the output of which is fed to a relay to change the power supply of the three-phase star-delta network. The project also has a single phase protection, since three-phase motors can be burned if a phase is missing during operation. The output to the lamps must be completely cut off in case of phase failure.
