Founded in 1971 by Jawaharlal Darda, in 2014, according to the Indian Readers Survey (IRS 2014), "Lokmat" (Marathi) is a Marathi-language newspaper published in Mumbai and other cities in the state of Maharashtra. It was the tenth largest Indian newspaper with 5.887 million readers, and in Marathi, it is the largest daily newspaper with 1.4 million copies per day. [4] According to IRS 2010 Q3, Lokmat has a total readership of 23.67 million, Lokmat has a Headquartered in Bombay, Maharashtra (India) and its main administrative center is located in the Lokmat Building, in Lokmat Square, Nagpur (India).

Lokmat has 11 Marathi editions in Maharashtra.
1. Nagpur (including supplements from Chandrapur, Yavatmal, Wardha, Gondia, Amravati and Gadchiroli)
2. Aurangabad (including the Hello Lokmat supplement separately for 8 Distticts in Marathwada)
3. Mumbai (including Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg)

Lokmat also caters to the Marathi-speaking population outside Maharashtra. It has issues in Indore (Madhya Pradesh) and Belgaum (Karnataka). On April 21, 2009, Lokmat released its special edition, which is Japanese. It is called the shakti edition. Also known as the edition of the skateboard in Japan
