It proposes a unique and economic method to improve the safety of our crossings. Road accidents at the railroad gate are one of the leading causes of death and injury around the world. Surveys conducted by Indian Railway concluded that about 17% of total rail accidents in India are experiencing accidents, most of which occur in passive rail passages. The operation of railroad gates at level crossings is not as reliable today. Mainly road users have to wait a very long time before the arrival of the train and even after the train stays. And secondly the chances of accidents they usually do by the lack of care of road users or due to time errors made by the porters is over. Here comes the importance of the automatic control system of the railroad gate. In this project we detected the arrival of the train and warned the users about the arrival of the train. If no obstacle is found a green signal is given for the train to pass, otherwise a red signal is emitted to slow down. After the obstacles are cleared, the door closes and the train is passed. The system deals with two things. Firstly, it involves the reduction of the time during which the door is kept closed. And secondly, to provide safety to road users by reducing accidents. In the automatic control system of the rail gate, at the level crossing, the arrival of the train is detected by the sensor located near the gate.
In general, the railroad doors are opened or closed manually by a gate. Information about the arrival of the train to open or close the door is received from the nearby station. But some railroad crossings are totally unmanned and many railroad accidents occur at these level unmanned crossings. To avoid human intervention at full level crossings, we need to automate the process of controlling the railroad gate.
