electromagnetic clutch
Electromagnetic clutches operate electrically, but transmit torque mechanically.
Construction
In a clutch, (B1) when powers applied, a magnetic field is created in the coil (A2 blue). This field (flux) overcomes an air gap between the clutch rotor (A2 yellow) and the armature (A2 red). This magnetic attraction, pulls the armature in contact with the rotor face. The frictional contact, which is being controlled by the strength of the magnetic field, is what causes the rotational motion to start. The torque comes from the magnetic attraction and also and the friction between the steel of the armature and the steel of the clutch rotor.
Basic operation
field, rotor, armature, and hub (output) are the main parts of the clutch. When voltage is applied the stationary magnetic field generates the lines of flux that pass into the rotor. The flux pulls the armature in contact with the rotor (the armature is connected to the component that requires the acceleration), as the armature and the output start to accelerate. Slipping between the rotor face and the armature face continues until the input and output speed is the same.
Engagement time
The first time consideration is the time it takes for a coil to develop a magnetic field, strong enough to pull in an armature. It depends on the amount of ampere turns in a coil, which will determine the strength of a magnetic field. The second one is air gap, which is the space between the armature and the rotor. The second factor detarmining the engagement time of the clutch is that which involves calculating the amount of inertia that the clutch needs to accelerate. This is referred to as time to speed. In reality, this is what the end-user is most concerned with. Once it is known how much inertia is present for the clutch to start then the torque can be calculated and the appropriate size of clutch can be chosen.

INTRODCTION
A clutch is a mechanism for transmitting rotation, which can be engaged and disengaged. Clutches are useful in devices that have two rotating shafts. In these devices, one shaft is typically driven by motor or pulley, and other shaft drives another device. The clutch
connects the two shafts so that they can either be locked together and spin at the same speed (engaged), or be decoupled and spin at different speeds (disengaged). The clutch disc (centre) spins with the flywheel (left). To disengage, the lever is pulled (black arrow), causing a white pressure plate (right) to disengage the green clutch disc from turning the drive shaft, which turns within the thrust-bearing ring of the lever. Never will all 3 rings connect, with any gaps.

AUTOMATIC ELECTRO MAGNETIC CLUTCH
SYNOPSIS
This project work titled “ELECTRO MAGNETIC CLUTCH” has been conceived having studied the automatic clutch mechanism in vehicles. Now the project has mainly concentrated on a suitable control unit has been designed for automatic clutch. The fabrication part of it has been considered with almost case for its simplicity and economy, such that this can be accommodated as one of the essential tools on automobile garages.
In our project, the switch is fixed below the braking pedal of the four wheeler. The electro-magnet with break pedal mechanism is used to pushing/pulling of the clutch automatically, when the braking pedal is pressed (Full brake time or gear engaged time).
INTRODUCTION
We have pleasure in introducing our new project “ELECTRO MAGNETIC CLUTCH”, which is fully equipped by mechanical arrangement and electro-magnetic clutch engagement mechanism. It is a genuine project which is fully equipped and designed for Automobile vehicles. This forms an integral part of best quality. This product underwent strenuous test in our Automobile vehicles and it is good.
Car safety is the avoidance of automobile accidents or the minimization of harmful effects of accidents, in particular as pertaining to human life and health. Special safety features have been built into cars for years, some for the safety of car's occupants only, and some for the safety of others.
APPLICATIONS
It is very much useful for Car Owners & Auto-garages.
Thus it can be useful for the following types of vehicles;
1) MARUTI,
2) AMBASSADOR,
3) FIAT,
4) MAHINDRA,
5) TATA
ADVANTAGES
It requires simple maintenance cares
The safety system for automobile.
Checking and cleaning are easy, because of the main parts are screwed.
Easy to Handle.
Repairing is easy.
Replacement of parts is easy.
DISADVANTAGES
Additional cost is required for converting automation
