INTRODUCTION

The basic principle used in this device is the property of ultrasonic and waves of getting reflected when medium density charges. The ultrasonic and sound waves having a frequency range from 40 kHz are generated by an Astable Multivibrator, having 50% duty cycle. The waves generated are amplified and transmitted through a transmitting Transducer with the help of a driver stage.

The waves travel ahead and are reflected back when they strike a moving object. The receiving transducer selects the reflected waves and further they are processed in receiver section. The receiver section consists of pre amplifier, buffer, driver and a buzzer, which gives the final output. The buffer is included to provide unit gain amplification to the received waves and passes them to Driver. The output is thus amplified to drive the output stage. The output stage is a buzzer. LED is also included in the output stage for the convenience.
Why we choosed ultrasonic communication: ultrasonic is acoustic energy in the form of waves having a frequency above the human hearing range. Ultrasonic can be used to locate objects by means similar to the principle by which radar works. High-frequency acoustic waves reflect from objects, even comparatively small ones, because of the short wavelength. The distance to an object can be determined by measuring the delay between the transmission of an ultrasonic pulse and the return of the signals. Since the ultrasonic has so many advantages we choose for this project.

Micro controller: AT89C52
LCD: 2*16 characters
Relays
Ultrasonic transmitter and receiver
Software used: Kiel Micro vision 3
IR sensors, IR TX n RX

1.1 WORKING PRINCIPLE

· The vehicle collision can be avoided by using this project.
· The microcontroller switches ON the ultrasonic transmitter and traces other vehicles in front of it using ultrasonic waves and receives the echo signal at the ultrasonic receiver.
· By doing distance measurement calculation from our program, the system can find out the distance of opposite vehicle from our vehicle.
· Thus vehicle collision is avoided.

1.3Applications of Ultrasonic Rays
· In our project we have also used ultra-sonic rays to know the traffic density.
1.3.1 Other applications
· Ultrasonic rays are used in electronic, navigational, industrial, and security applications.
· It is also used in medicine to view internal organs of the body.
· Ultrasonic rays are used in industry to analyze the uniformity and purity of liquids and solids.
· Ultrasonic rays can be used in sonar systems to determine the depth of the water in a location.
