Today is Foundation Day. A day engraved with tradition and history. Today we celebrate the NGCC's birthday.
"It's very important to know where you're coming from," said director Bill Low. "On this day we are reminded how the school was formed 29 years ago. Today we reflect on the first days of school and how far we have come as a school community."
The day began with a tradition of Foundation Day, the formation of a line of coins from student donations. This tradition was established by Mrs. Chambers, wife of the first Director Dr. Ron Chambers, and every year the proceeds go to the same charity, the "Save the Children Fund."
This year we broke a record due to the ingenuity of some students. Usually donations of gold coins form the basis of the line of coins, however this year many students took their $ 2 coins to the bank and exchanged them for $ 0.05 pieces, which allowed us to form the line of coins Longest in the history of the school, staggering 307 meters. Together, students raised $ 1,456.30 for the Save the Children Fund.
