An opening is a formal ceremony. The historical source of the word "inauguration" comes from the Latin augur, which refers to the rituals of the ancient Roman priests who tried to interpret whether it was the will of the gods that a public official was considered worthy to take office. The inaugurations of public figures, especially those of political leaders, often feature lavish ceremonies in which the figure makes his oath publicly (sometimes called "oath") often in front of a large crowd of spectators. A monarchical inauguration can take different forms depending on the nation: they can undergo a coronation rite or they can simply be required to take an oath in the presence of the legislature of a country.
