Amul is an Indian dairy cooperative based in Anand in the state of Gujarat, India. Formed in 1946, it is a brand run by a cooperative, Gujarat Milk Cooperative Cooperative Ltd. (GCMMF), which today is jointly owned by 3.6 million dairy farmers in Gujarat.

The white revolution was headed by Tribhuvandas Patel under the direction of Sardar Patel. As a result, Kaira District Milk Union Limited was born in 1946. Tribhuvandas became the founding president of the organization that led until his last day of his life. He hired Dr. Kurien three years after the White Revolution. He persuaded Dr. Kurien to stay and help with the mission of repose. It was history in the dairy industry.

Amul encouraged the White Revolution of India, which made the country the world's largest producer of milk and dairy products. In the process Amul became the largest food brand in India and has ventured into overseas markets.

Dr. Verghese Kurien, founder-president of GCMMF for more than 30 years (1973-2006), is credited with the success of Amul. Amul products are now available in more than 60 countries around the world.

AMUL is the non-Asian. 1 and the second number of dairy cooperatives in the world. It has a large network of markets and dairy products in every state in India and throughout India, such as the countries of Central Asia, Bangladesh, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, etc. It started with 250 liters of milk and 2 societies and now produces 10 liters of milk per day and has 1113 societies and more than 6 lakes members farmers. Produces milk and dairy products. AMUL's main motto is to help farmers. Farmers were the cornerstone of AMUL. The system works only for farmers and for consumers, not for profit. The main objective of AMUL is to provide quality products to consumers at a minimal cost. The aim of AMUL is to provide the maximum benefit in terms of money to farmers. AMUL's vision is to provide and dispel the problems of farmers (milk producers). The emergence of AMUL was to lead the organization with the cooperation of four major parties, farmers, representatives, marketers and consumers.

Amul-coperative registered on December 14, 1946 in response to the exploitation of marginal milk producers by traders or agents of the existing dairy, the Polson dairy, in the distances of small towns to deliver milk, which often became Acid in summer, to Polson. Prices of milk were determined arbitrarily. In addition, the government had granted monopoly rights to Polson to collect Kaira's milk and to supply it to the city of Bombay.

Enraged by unfair trading practices, Kaira farmers approached Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel under the leadership of local leader of the peasants Tribhuvandas K. Patel. He advised them to form a cooperative and supply milk directly to the Bombay Milk Scheme instead of Polson (who did the same but gave them low prices). He sent Morarji Desai to organize the peasants. In 1946, milk producers in the area began a strike that led to the creation of the cooperative to collect and process milk. Milk collection was decentralized, since most producers were marginal farmers who could deliver at most 1-2 liters of milk a day. Cooperatives were also formed for each village.

The cooperative was developed and directed by Dr. Verger Kurien with H.M. Dalaya. Dalaya's innovation of making skim milk from buffalo milk (for the first time in the world) and a little later, with Kurien's help, doing so on a commercial scale, [10] led to the first dairy Modern cooperative in Anand, which would compete against established players in the market. The brother-in-law of Kurien K.M. Philip sensitized Kurien to the needs of addressing the finer points of marketing, including the creation and popularization of a brand. This led to the search for an attractive brand. In a brainstorming session, a chemist working in the dairy laboratory suggested that Amul, who comes from the Sanskrit word "amulya", means "invaluable" and "denoted and symbolized the pride of Swadeshi production."

The success of the trio (T. K. Patel, Kurien and Dalaya) at the cooperative dairy soon spread to the Anand neighborhood in Gujarat. Within a short span of time, five unions in other districts - Mehsana, Banaskantha, Baroda, Sabarkantha and Surat - were established. To combine forces and expand the market, saving publicity and avoiding to compete with each other, in 1973 the GCMMF, marketing organism of these district cooperatives was created. The Kaira Union, which since 1955 had the Amul brand with it, transferred it to GCMMF.

In 1999, he was awarded the "Best of all" Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Award. In addition to success, Dr. Madan Mohan Kashyap (Faculty of Agronomy and Engineering of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana), Dr. Bondurant (Visiting Professor) and Dr. Feryll (former student of Dr. Verghese Kurien) visited The Amul factory in Anand. Research team headed by Dr. Bheemsen and Shivdayal Pathak (former director of the Sardar Patel Renewable Energy Research Institute) in the 1960s. A milk pasteurization system at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) Ludhiana Agricultural Research Center Was then formed under the leadership of Kashyap. Technological developments in Amul have subsequently spread to other parts of India.

GCMMF is the largest food marketing organization in India. It is the apex organization of Gujarat dairy cooperatives. It is the exclusive marketing organization for products under the brand name of Amul and Sagar. Over the past five and a half decades, Gujarat dairy cooperatives have created an economic network linking more than 3.1 million dairy products to the village with millions of consumers in India. Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd.
