In computing environmental intelligence (AmI) refers to electronic environments that are sensitive and receptive to the presence of people. Ambient Intelligence is a vision of the future of consumer electronics, telecommunications and computer science originally developed in the late 1990s by Eli Zelkha and his team at Palo Alto Ventures for the period 2010-2020. In a world of environmental intelligence, the devices work together to help people carry out their daily activities, tasks and rituals in an easy and natural way using information and intelligence hidden in the network that connects these devices (see Internet of things). As these devices become smaller, more connected and more integrated in our environment, the technology disappears in our environment until only the user interface remains perceptible by users.
