Sandesh Media Group, editors of Gujarati newspaper Sandesh, has launched a weekly newspaper entitled Agro Sandesh, on July 4. The tabloid is dedicated to the food industries of Gujarat.
The new agricultural weekly has a cover price of Rs 6 per copy, with an annual subscription of Rs 275. Launched with an initial print run of 3 lakh copies, the company aims to play 5 lakh copies by the end of September 2011.The content mix of the 24-page tabloid-sized Gujarati weekly will include news and views on agriculture, dairy, livestock and Gujarat's cooperative sector, political news affecting the socio-economic lives of farmers, national, international and state. Level developments, farmers' success stories, research and developments, new projects, information on agricultural product processing, market rates and trends, and forecasting and time orientation.
Apart from this, Agro Sandesh will also carry information on various schemes of central and state government, agricultural technology and the export of agricultural products.

The group conducted a survey in Gujarat at several agricultural exhibitions to measure the need for such a newspaper. Apart from this, some advertisers and agencies were also polled to gather comments on the need for a specific product for agriculture.
