agricultural waste materials as useful adsorbent be remove highly toxic
[attachment=17742]
MATERIALS AND METHODS
Effects of adsorption on different agricultural waste materials were studied given as follows:-
1. Coconut shell
2. Waste tea leaves
3. Rice husk
I. Collection of agricultural waste materials:
The agricultural waste materials used for our adsorption studies are
1. Waste tea leaves were collected from the kitchen waste.
2. Coconut shell also collected from kitchen waste.
3. Rice husk was collected from the rice mill.
II. Preparation of biosorbents:
Adsorbent can be prepared by two methods.
1. Carbonization method
2. Acid treatment method
Out of these two methods the acid treatment method is found to be more effective.
Acid treatment method:
One part by weight of the raw material was treated with concentrated sulphuric acid and kept at 1500 C in an air oven for 24 hrs. The carbonized material was washed well with water to remove the free acid and dried at 1000 – 1050 C for 24 hrs. The adsorbent was ground, sieved and packed in airtight containers.
