To meet emission reduction targets, a significant effort was required to minimize cost, time and steady state performance, emissions of CO, HC, PM and NOx contaminants. Instead of developing a new engine with the latest technology as CRDI, it is advisable to convert the existing engine and calibrate it for the application of the required vehicle. The main challenge of converting the engine to superior technology such as CRDI and its application strategy is explained in this technical presentation.
In order to meet the future regulation of the most stringent emissions and improve the performance of the diesel engine, the incinerator combustion process has been an area of constant research and development. The result of the engine test shows that the emission of soot is sensitive to nozzle parameters, such as the impact point on the cuvette and the number of nozzle holes. In diesel combustion, the air fuel mixture and chemical kinetic stresses control the rate of soot formation. The combustion temperature and the presence of oxygen create a high formation of NOX. Changes in injector protrusion can result in opposing smoke trends in different load conditions and engine speed. The combustion process, the rich mixture (ie lack of oxygen) creates incomplete combustion by the products of UBHC, CO. Hence the operation of the engine with high ratio of excess air can help in CO, HC reduction. It is clear that each emission has close interaction with each other, reducing one pollutant can have an adverse effect on another (another).
