When Android Wear and Apple Watch were launched, each device touted the ability to bring the functionality of a phone to the wrist. This has been implemented with varying degrees of success. While I can check my notifications and perform certain tasks on my Apple Watch, an iPhone is not.
That's where the Cicret bracelet makes its entrance. This conceptual project of a band of former employees of Apple, Dell, InFocus literally places the home screen of his device on the wrist. With a tracker style band and micro projector, Cicret has an intriguing game plan. Head down to see it in action.
Originally detailed in 2014, Cicret has been developed over the last few years. Visually, it looks a lot like Jawbone's UP24 fitness tracker. But instead of focusing on physical activity, this bracelet brings full functionality of smartphones to your arm. Everything is built around a small projector hidden inside the bracelet. Apart from replicating the phone's screen, it is also capable of detecting movements and inputs. The proximity sensor can keep track of what is happening and transmits commands to your device via Bluetooth.
Cicret says his new bracelet will be able to reflect Android devices, Apple and Windows Phone. There is not much information here in terms of how this is achieved, be it AirPlay or another software feature. In the next video, you'll notice that this feature only plays with an Android device and shows that an advance rendering of the software will work. The product itself has a modified version of Android and has 32GB of built-in storage. There is also a vibrator for alerts and Wi-Fi plus Bluetooth radios.
