A lot of research is being focused on finding new algorithms for faster restoration after a fault .The concept of multi-agent systems (MAS) has provided a new option which is related to the distributed analysis for restoration. A MAS that restores a power system after a fault is described in this article.
Power outages and faults are inevitable in distribution power systems. The restoration of power involves cutting off the areas which do not have the fault also. There must be a a fast and efficient switch operation scheme to isolate the fault and quickly restore power to the remaining parts of the system must be designed.
MAS FRAMEWORK
Some of the tools used in the development of the agent are detailed below:
a)Agents
They are are high-level autonomous software abstractions which are characterized by the behavior and ontology. A MAS consists of a group of agents working in distributed and coupled networks working in coordination for a global goal. There are several types of agents which are Software Agents, Mobile Agents, Reactive Agents, Interface Agents, Middle Agents or Intermediate Agents etc.
b) Java Agent DEvelopment Framework (JADE)
It is a is a middleware for the devel- opment and run-time execution of peer-to-peer applications that use agents. Message passing is the method used by the agents for communication with the JADE.
