The six-stroke engine
TheŠest′-storke dvigatel′a type of internal combustion engine based on the four-stroke engine, with more difficulty, But intended to make it more efficient and reduce emissions. Two types with six stroke engine was developed from the 1890 's:
In the first approach, which is called a piston engine design captures the heat loss of the four-stroke Otto cycle or diesel cycle and uses it to power additional power and exhaust stroke of the piston in the cylinder of a year. Designs use either steam or air as a working body for an additional stroke. Pistons in this type of six-stroke engine go up and down three times for each injection. There are two power strokes: one with fuel, the other with steam or air.
The second approach, known as the opposing piston design, uses the second vehicles Pistons in each cylinder moves at half the cyclical, that the level of the main piston, giving six piston movements Amaranthus per cycle. Functionally, the second piston replaces the valve mechanism of a conventional engine with increased compression, but also relationships.
Types of engines
Individual projects piston
Woven designs use one piston per cylinder, just like a normal Two-or four-stroke engine.AVtoričnyj, non-fluid is pumped into the Chamber environment, ithe heat from combustion residue causes it to expand for the second stroke, followed by a second release cycle.
Griffin six stroke engine
Engine Kerr in the Anson engine Museum.
In 1883, the Bath-based engineer Samuel Griffin was created year manufacturer of steam and gas engines. He wished to make the year an internal combustion engine, but without paying the licensing fees for patents of Otto. His solution was to develop a "patent spool" and six-stroke engine using single-acting it. By 1886, Scottish steam locomotive maker Dick Kerr and co. saw a future in large oil engines and licensed the patents to Griffin. They double-acting, tandem engines and sold under the name "Kilmarnock". The main market for Griffin in electricity generation, where they developed a reputation as a running light for a long time of happiness, then all of a sudden unable to hold large electricity demand. Their large heavy construction didn't suit to mobile use, but were they able to burn heavier grades of crude oil, and inexpensive.TheKlûčevoj principle of "Griffin simplex" was heated exhaust-jacketed external equilibrium, in which fuel was sprayed. Temperatures are around 550° F (288° C), steam oil, sufficient to physically-but not break it down chemically. This fractional distillation supported the use of heavy fuel oil, bitumen and tar inefficient allocation of equilibrium. Hot bulb ignition was used, which that Griffin called "Catathermic ignitorami", a small isolated cavity connected to the combustion chamber. Spray injector had an adjustable inner nozzle for air supply, surrounded by a ring of shell oil, as the oil and air coming at 20 PSI (138 kPa) 2 pressure and for which prices are regulated by the Governor. [3] [4] Griffin went out of business in 1923, only two known examples of Griffin six stroke engine survive. One of them is in the Anson engine Museum. The other was built in 1885, and for several years was at Birmingham Museum of science and technology, in 2007 year-but it is back in the bathroom and in the Museum of bath at work.
Bajulaz six stroke engine
TheBajulaz six-stroke engine is similar to a regular internal combustion engine in the design. There are, however, changes in the front, with two fixed capacity Chambers: Additional air heater combustion chamber and cylinder Chamber above each year. Combustion chamber receives a charge of heated air from the cylinder; thevprysk fuel begins the year izohornoj (constant volume), which increases the thermal burn efficiency compared with the burn in the cylinder. High pressure will be executed, then released into the cylinder to operate power or expansion stroke. Meanwhile the second kamerathe the combustion chamber which blankets, has its content in the air is heated to a high degree of heat that passes through the wall of the cylinder. It heats up and air under pressure is the extra year is then used for the travel of the piston.
Claimed benefits of the engine include reduction of fuel consumption by at least 40%, two attacks in six strokes, the ability to use more fuel and significantly reduced pollution.
