IP Multimedia Subsystem

The IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is a standardised Next Generation Networking (NGN) architecture for telecom operators that want to provide mobile and fixed multimedia services. It uses a Voice-over-IP (VoIP) implementation based on a 3GPP standardised implementation of SIP, and runs over the standard Internet Protocol (IP). Existing phone systems (both packet-switched and circuit-switched) are supported.
The aim of IMS is not only to provide new services but all the services, current and future, that the Internet ....etc

Configuring Distributed Multimedia Applications Using CINEMA

Abstract :

This paper describes the configuration of distributed multimedia applications using the CINEMA system. Components, interconnected by links via ports are used to handle multimedia data. Configuration management controls these interconnections, establishes components in threads on different systems and allows an interactive control of data handling functions. In this Paper present an object-oriented interface, that is able to handle different types of components. To d ....etc

Mobile Agents In Distributed Multimedia Database Systems
Abstract: The size of networks is increasing rapidly and this fact is not straitened to the internet alone. Many intra and inter“organization networks are affected by this trend, too. A side effect of this growth is the increase of network traffic. This development leads to new challenges and we have to think about new technologies. Mobile agent systems are one answer to these challenges. Mobile agents are an emerging technology attracting interest from the fields of distribute ....etc

Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) is a broadcasting service that can be offered via existing GSM and UMTS cellular networks. The infrastructure offers an option to use an uplink channel for interaction between the service and the user, which is not a straightforward issue in usual broadcast networks, as for example conventional digital television is only a one-way (unidirectional) system. MBMS uses multicast distribution in the core network instead of point-to-point links for each end device .

MBMS will start to be rolled out in ....etc
