With internet use continuing to explode, with an increasing number of users switching to IP- based networks, and with data traffic about to surpass voice traffic, network service providers have looking for a faster; more efficient, and less expensive transport technology to handle the heavy volumes of traffic they are experiencing.
With this in mind, many providers have decided to carry IP traffic, directly over SONET (synchronous optical network), rather than via frame relay, ATM backbones, or leased lines.

Abstract

The aim of this project is to develop a Virtual Routing Network Emulation Framework for testing Routing protocols and algorithms. The core of this framework will be virtual routers running in user space and the component realising their virtual interconnection. This framework will be based around a network topology emulation notion.

RFB (Remote Frame Buffer) protocol enables remote users to share the desktop of the server either exclusively or on a sharing basis.

RFB (remote frame buffer) is a simple protocol for remote access to graphical user
interfaces. Because it works at the frame buffer level it is applicable to all windowing
systems and applications, including X11, Windows 3.1/95/NT and Macintosh.
