Fuzzy Coordination of FACTS Controllers for Damping Power System Oscillations

Abstract
This paper concerns the optimization and coordination of the conventional FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission Systems) damping controllers in multimachine power system. Firstly, the parameters of FACTS controller are optimized. Then, a hybrid fuzzy logic controller for the coordination of FACTS controllers is presented. This coordination method is well suitable to series connected FACTS devices like UPFC, TCSC etc. in damping multi-mod ....etc

FACTS is a concept introduced by Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), U.S.A.It is actually a group of advanced transmission technologies that rely on high speed, solid-state electronics, rather than electromechanical devices.

By this concept, the apparent impedance of a transmission line is controlled according to certain algorithm. Thus the power system operation is made more reliable, controllable and efficient.
