MOTIVATIONS AND PURPOSE

Many large-scaled servers are implemented in a peer-to-peer distributed system due to:
Low cost of workstations
Availability of high speed network
Performance of the system is high due to:
Rapid response time
Less memory space

ABSTRACT

Smart spaces are composed of smart and dummy nodes
which act as the source for providing service. A large
number of cluster groups are formed in the smart space.
Some of these smart spaces are mobile, some are Adhoc

Peer-to-Peer File Sharing Across Private Networks Using Proxy Servers

The Internet today is commonly used as a medium to share large size multimedia content. This sharing is carried out, a number of times, through the Peer to Peer sharing architecture rather than the conventional server-client model. The paucity of network addresses in the Internet has led to the emergence of private and global networks. Because the identity of peers in a private network remains hidden behind their global endpoint, P2P applications cannot run betwee ....etc

EVOLUTION OF PEER TO PEER DOWNLOADING
PEER TO PEER NETWORK

What is a peer to peer network?
A peer to peer network is a network that relies on the computing power & bandwidth of the participants on the network.
P2p networks are typically used for connecting nodes via largely ad_hoc connections.
Such networks are useful for sharing content files containing audio, video ,data & anything in digital format.

Spatial Data Query Support in Peer-to-Peer Systems

Motivation

Spatial data sets are used for many applications, e.g., GIS, CAD, …
P2P systems provide a distributed platform that is very scalable.
Pros:
Scalability, no central point of failure
Cons:
Very dynamic (unreliable), topology maintenance required

Abstract
Use of peer-to-peer technologies have been prevalent in sharing files and media over internet. This project proposes a new cooperative file sharing and storage system that allows users to store, share and find files over a robust and scalable network. This system is based on peer-to-peer technologies and provides a self-managed, decentralized, efficient, load-balanced and distributed way to store and retrieve files on peer nodes ....etc

DYNAMIC SEARCH ALGORITHM IN UNSTRUCTURED PEER-TO-PEER NETWORKS--PARALLEL AND DISTRIBUTED SYSTEMS

Designing efficient search algorithms is a key challenge in unstructured peer-to-peer networks. Flooding and random walk (RW) are two typical search algorithms. Flooding searches aggressively and covers the most nodes. However, it generates a large amount of query messages and, thus, does not scale. On the contrary, RW searches conservatively. It only generates a fixed amount of query messages at each hop but would take longer search time. We pr ....etc
