The Semantic Web is a project that intends to create a universal medium for information exchange by putting documents with computer-processable meaning (semantics) on World Wide Web in a standardized way.

The Semantic Grid refers to an approach to Grid computing in which information, computing resources and services are described using the semantic data model. In this model the data and metadata are expressed through facts (small sentences). Therefore it becomes directly understandable for humans. The Semantic Web is an extension of the current web in which information is given well-defined meaning, better enabling computers and people to work in cooperation. This makes it easier for machines to automatically process and integrate information.
